Why product photos get rejected
Marketplaces run automated image checks. The most common silent failures are a
background that looks white but isn't exactly 255,255,255, an
image that's too small for zoom, a product that doesn't fill enough of the frame, or a
watermark, logo, or border on the main photo. ListingLint measures each of these
directly from the pixels, so you find out before the marketplace does.
Amazon main-image rules
- Background must be pure white — RGB 255,255,255.
- Product should fill at least 85% of the frame.
- Longest side ≥ 1000px (1600px+ recommended for zoom).
- No text, logos, watermarks, or borders on the main image.
eBay photo rules
- Longest side ≥ 500px; 1600px+ recommended for zoom.
- A plain, light background is recommended.
- No added borders, text, or watermarks.
Etsy photo tips
- Aim for 2000px+ on the shortest side.
- Use a square (1:1) image — thumbnails are cropped square.
- No white-background requirement; lifestyle photos are encouraged.
